Join us Saturday, December 1st, for the celebration of the 243rd anniversary of the birthday of our beloved Jane Austen. Dr. Janine Barchas, a professor of English at the University of Texas, will be our speaker. Professor Barchas will discuss parts of her forthcoming book championing cheap early reprintings of Jane Austen's novels, arguing that only the inexpensive books read by ordinary people make authors truly canonical. She calls her approach “hard-core bibliography meets the Antiques Roadshow.”
