Opening Reception and Talk: Chong Keun Chu: Garden + Walker

Please join us for an art gallery talk and reception for the artist, Chong Keun Chu on Wednesday, October 17, from 2- 4 p.m. The artist will be present in the Educational Art Gallery to discuss the artwork in his current exhibition, Garden + Walker, and meet interested students and members of the public. Gallery Talk will begin at 3 p.m.

The Educational Art Gallery at Cedar Valley College is pleased to present the exhibition Chong Keun Chu: Garden + Walker. These works explore a number of recurring motifs and threads of meaning that have emerged, grown and developed from Chong Chu’s artwork over his sustained career. The walking figure, the imaginative, generative plant forms, and the rich color and formal language of these works combine to make world that is manifestly his own creation.

This exhibition includes paintings, works on paper and small sculptures dating from 1998 to the present, and examines a sustained period of the artist’s work. Noted as an educator, as well as a painter, Professor Chu has made a real difference to his students at Brookhaven College, leading by example and bringing out the best in his students.
