Bernstein, Overture to Candide
Bernstein, Simple Song from MASS
Rimsky-Korsakov, Scheherazade, Op. 35

Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov evokes the Oriental magic of “1001 Arabian Nights”, where each night Scheherazade weaves mesmerizing tales for the cruel Sultan in order to save her life and win his heart. The symphonic suite tells the stories of Sinbad the sailor, a Kalendar prince, a young prince and princess, a Bagdad festival, and climaxes with a crashing shipwreck.
