I Come As One, But Stand As 10,000 features works by renowned Columbia, South Carolina artist Tyrone Geter. In his works Geter explores the struggles and hardships women of color have to face globally. Geter’s pieces are inspired by his mother and her life of dealing with the racism, intolerance, and poverty of 20th century in America. Geter’s works celebrate women and their stories by making them the focal point of his pieces, but avoids the objectification of his female subjects.
