Rennie Harris: Free Adult Community Hip-Hop Class

Can hip-hop truly enlighten us? World renown Dancer, Choreographer, Artistic Director, Professor of hip-hop Rennie Harris believes it can. “His life has been devoted to bringing hip-hop dance to all people in the belief hip-hop expresses universal themes that extend beyond racial, religious, and economic boundaries and one that can help bridge these divisions. ”(www.danceconsortium.com/features/choreographer/rennieharris)

The So You Think You Can Dance choreographer, Mr. Harris, will be at the University of North Texas setting a hip-hop work on Dance Majors and Minors September 7-16 with his assistant Millie Heckler, a Rennie Harris Dancer. This work will be performed at the U.N.T. Faculty Dance Concert February 7-9 at 8 p.m. and February 10 at 2 p.m. at the University Theatre in the RTFP Building 1179 Union Circle.

Ms. Heckler will teach a free adult community hip hop class Tuesday, September 11, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Dance and Theatre Building 300 Bernard Street, Denton. Dancers 18 or older interested in taking the class need to e-mail [email protected] to reserve a spot.
