Play On, Dallas!
Play On, Dallas! is a cultural expression project involving the decoration and installation of used pianos in popular community spaces within Dallas. Our goal is to provide art and an otherwise expensive, difficult-to-access musical instrument to the public so that all have the opportunity to perform, to learn, and to teach on pianos. To achieve the unity of a diverse community and to positively impact Dallas, the pianos will be placed in easily accessible public spaces: Dallas Farmers Market, Pegasus Plaza and Love Field Airport.
Play On, Dallas! allows infinite opportunities for interactions, conversations, collaborations and friendships to form over the celebration of music. By making beautifully decorated pianos available to the community in public spaces, everyone has the chance to play a piano—regardless of socioeconomic background, culture, race, education, age or experience. We envision these pianos as vehicles for cultural exchange and free, public education in the community—bridging the gap between those who do and do not have access to this musical instrument. The pianos will be decorated to reflect Dallas culture, music and art.
