Sylvester Jacobs, an internationally exhibited photographer and speaker, will be sharing about his career and showing prints of his work during this retrospective brunch event on Saturday, June 23rd at the Art Centre of Plano. He is often referred to as the photographer of L’Abri where he spent time with Francis and Edith Schaeffer and found his way into photography. Syl Jacobs’ photography has been in galleries and museums throughout the world. He has also published a number of books during his career including Portrait of England, and Portrait of a Shelter. His biography, Born Black, was written with Linette Martin.
About his work, Jacobs wrote, “I have tried in my own way to photograph and understand those qualities that are both human and personal without making any attempt to be exhaustive or laying stress on the social or the political.”
