Sylvan l Thirty

Over the Bridge Arts invites the community to the 2018 Summer Solstice Artspot, a free arts outreach program celebrating the energy of the arts.  Twelve performing and visual artists will show their work during the 12-hour, family-friendly event at Sylvan 30 from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 23.

The Summer Solstice Artspot will feature multiple visual artists from Art Conspiracy and the following local performing artists: musicians Jordan Jones-Cleaver, André K. Jones, Daniel KatsüK, Jake Nice and The Proper Bandits; dance from Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet, Common Thread Dance Company, Danielle Georgiou Dance Group, and Jessica Thomas; poet Fatima-Ayan Malika Hirsi; and a short play directed by Jake Nice.

The Summer Solstice Artspot, which offers free hands-on arts activities for families, concludes with a community drumming circle at 8 p.m. and includes free parking. Dallas Public Library will be onsite from 3-6 p.m. to distribute free books to children and issue library cards.

The Summer Solstice Artspot is supported by the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, Houndstooth Coffee, Whisk Crepes Café, and Sync Yoga & Wellbeing. For this program, Over the Bridge Arts is also partnering with Art Conspiracy and Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity.

Over the Bridge Arts was founded in Oak Cliff in 2016 by director Lori Sundeen Soderbergh with the aim of creating opportunities for new and emerging artists to reach new audiences.
