The African Film Festival - Symposium on African Cinema and Master Acting Class


Southern Methodist University - Dallas Hall

The African Film Festival (TAFF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to African motion pictures, and to serve as a platform for educative references to African Culture. It will host a 5-day festival from June 29th thru July 3rd.

TAFF will open on June 29th with Storytelling sessions by artists from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and the United States.  The Dallas Poetry Slam will be participating in this event targeted towards families in the Dallas area.  There would be cultural dancers and drumming performances.

Film Screenings will take place at the African American Museum on June 30th and July 1st.

Symposium on African Cinema and Master Acting Class will take place on June 2nd from 10 AM to 4 PM at Southern Methodist University (SMU)  Dallas Hall 3225 University Blvd, Dallas, TX 75205

TAFF Awards Gala, a black tie/ cultural attire/ Red Carpet event will hold on July 3rd, 6 PM at Moody Performance Hall 2520 Flora St, Dallas, TX 75201.  Some of the Best African Films featured in the festival will be recognized. There will be Live Performances and a tribute to Mandela’s Centennial with U.S. Premiere of the short film, "LOL With President Mandela."
