Sarah Jaffe:

Since her debut EP Even Born Again 2008, Sarah Jaffe’s endearingly stark narratives have gone from homespun folk-pop songs to decidedly cathartic pop ballads without losing any of their thoughtfulness or intimacy.

Her full length Suburban Nature introduced the artist to an international audience. The pace of her music shifted with the release of The Body Wins, Don’t Disconnect and her most recent Bad Baby but the delicacy has not: instrumentations now veer more towards electro-pop, but her storytelling and heartfelt lyricism is still every bit as cerebral.

Jaffe’s voice has been featured in the Disney Pixar short The Blue Umbrella scored by Jon Brion.  She can also be heard in the Occulus virtual reality short Dear Angelica and has recently composed music for Never Goin’ Back , which premiered January 2018 at Sundance. She’s toured the US and Europe multiple times, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared the stage with Norah Jones, Patty Griffin, Erykah Badu, Metric, Chelsea Wolfe, Midlake, Blitzen Trapper and Cyndi Lauper.

Jaffe also has a writing partnership with hip-hop producer S1 (Beyoncé, Kanye West, Jay Z). The duo’s first collaboration, “Bad Guy” (on whose chorus Jaffe both wrote and sings), appears on Eminem’s Grammy Award-winning MMLP2.

TOMKAT:

TOMKAT is a band based out of Denton, Texas whose work spends much of its time buried in the grey areas between pop, jazz, rock and dance music, the idea of coordinating complex sounds and musical meters is at the heart of their cross-genre investigations. Led by the haunting croon and ache of Katrina Cain’s voice, as well as the dynamic rhythmic interplay that exists within the band, TOMKAT are looking to express their native pop and electronic instincts without sacrificing their evolved temperament to the confines of a modern musical marketplace.
