Fort Worth Art Collectives: 1990-2015

Tarrant County College - Southeast Campus

Art Corridor II at Tarrant County College Southeast Campus Presents: Fort Worth Art Collectives, 1990-2015: F6 Collective

From their first exhibition in an Arlington warehouse in 2007 to their reunion show at the Grackle Art Gallery in 2016, F6 has stayed true to their streetwise ways. The collective of graffiti artists, painters, and sculptors continue to work as artists in North Texas and beyond.

F6 is Ray Albarez, Jessica Cazobon, Venessa Elmore, Jessica Fuentes, Jeru Gabriel, Shane Harrison, Jeremy Joel, Mike Moffatt, Cody Phillips, and Adam Werner. The Art Corridor exhibition brings them back together in a survey of artist collectives that have worked in the DFW area between 1990 and 2015. Of the handful of collectives working in that period, which includes groups that not highlighted here, the focus is on the most active groups in this period working with the stated purpose of exhibiting as a collective.

Although there are no fewer than 15 art groups/collectives currently in Fort Worth and Tarrant County, there hasn’t been scholarship devoted to cataloging the history of collectives. Thus the 15-year period that is the focus of this series can be a seen as a point of departure for more research for curators and writers working on art in Texas.
