Ball of Confusion: Art of Dwayne Carter

The Kessler Theater

Included in this Kessler Theater exhibition are works from Dwayne Carter's MADNESS photo novella zines. On display are large banner scrolls and small paintings with imagery from "irrational.City", "Collective Madness", "Paradise and Utopia". and "You are Living in a False Universe". The exhibition is named for the large yellow banner in the main lobby representing the irrational decisions coming from our collective madness. In the alcove are studies based on Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. In these oil and pencil on birch paintings, a gender transferred Dante is accompanied by the poet Virgil through the nine rings of Hell. The backgrounds are re-visioned as a post-apocalyptic Dallas. Landmarks include a DART station, The DMA, Klyde Warren Park, Reunion Tower, Dealey Plaza, and Fair Park.
