The Elias Quartet, formed in England while its members were studying in Manchester, continued quartet studies at the Cologne Hochschule. They have since developed into one of the leading quartets of their generation. Typical of their press reviews was London’s Sunday Times critic proclaiming them to be “the best young string quartet I’ve heard in years.” Another reviewer noted that “this immensely talented string quartet has the rare quality of unforced spontaneity.” In addition to their celebrated performances and recordings of the standard quartet literature, they have also collaborated with such internationally celebrated artists as Leon Fleisher, Ralph Kirshbaum, and Jonathan Biss.
