Get ready for an exciting evening of jazz when the Kelly DurbinBebop Band recalls the era when Clifford Brown, Hank Mobley, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and others moved jazz beyond swing. Joining pianist extraordinaire Kelly Durbin on stage are Mario Cruz on saxes, Ira Basset on trumpet and flugelhorn, Lou Harlas on bass, and Steve Barnes on drums.
Magic happens when four amazing saxophonists perform on one stage. Saxomania features Shelley Carrol, Quamon Fowler, Ron Jones, and Chris McGuire along with Lynn Seaton on bass, Andrew Griffith on drums, and Kelly Durbin on piano.
Sammons Jazz is held at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines at Oak Lawn. Tickets are $45 per person and include beverages, a light buffet-style meal, and valet parking. Sammons members receive a $5 per ticket discount. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the concert begins approximately at 7:30 p.m. There are two performance sets of about 40 minutes each with an intermission between. Dress is casual; some people come in business attire, but most wear casual, comfortable clothing.
