Brian J. Magnuson - 8 Dark Days: Portraits of Presidents Who Died in Office

The mARTin Place

The Martin Place is pleased to present our newest solo exhibition, 8 Dark Days by renowned artist Brian J. Magnuson.  In celebration of President’s Day, 8 Dark Days is a series of eight exquisite large graphite portrait drawings.

The exhibition will be on view February 3 through February 28 with an Artist Reception on February 3, from 6-9 PM.

Brian Magnuson’s 8 Dark Days focuses our attention on eight of the forty-four presidents.  Many of us can visually recognize a few of our past presidents such as Lincoln, Washington and Kennedy, but how many can recognize Garfield, Taylor, or McKinley.  Magnuson’s larger than life presidential portraits gives eminence to these men who held great importance in their time and shaped our world by their lives and deaths.

Come meet face to face with William Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, Franklin D. Roosevelt, William McKinley, Warren Harding, and John F. Kennedy.  Men who offered our country great hope only to be taken at the pinnacle of their time, bringing upon our nation eight dark days.

Brian J. Magnuson (who looks an awful like Abraham Lincoln and may or may not be kin) is a disabled veteran and an exhibiting artist who lives and works in McKinney, Texas. His work has been featured on Good Morning Oklahoma television program, Dallas Morning News Guide, Art in America as well as many other print and digital publications.
