This three-day workshop focuses on achieving a timeless quality of color relationships for all painters. The focus is on applying the ancient Japanese theory of Shibui – a particular aesthetic of simple, beautiful and unobtrusive mixtures of color -- to practical, modern-day painting practices. The instructor, Denver native Mark Whitmarsh, has been a professional artist for more than 30 years. His art education includes studies at the University of Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain School of Art. His work has been exhibited throughout the southwest, and he has participated in countless solo and groups shows. His paintings, which have been featured in Art in America and Southwest Art, hang in both public and private collections throughout the U.S.
