In the Footsteps of the Impressionists

Alan Barnes Fine Art

In an age of 'virtual reality' when the art of painting a picture is possible through the screen, and imagery is well considered when floating in formaldehyde, it is reassuring to find an evergreen of traditional values. For as long as I have known Matthew Alexander he has always lived life to the hilt, but he enjoys nothing more than the love of his family and the respect of his friends and peers. He continues to enjoy considerable success on both sides of the Atlantic and his paintings are admired and collected by an international base of collectors. A product of post-war England, he has known tough beginnings, but he is aware of his talent and when he uses it to the full effect, it is breathtaking!

'In the Footsteps of the Impressionists' is a proper exhibition that contains a personal invitation to journey back in time. Mr. Alexander has retraced the steps and examines with great care an array of familiar subjects known to the masters of the impressionism era. Each individual painting has something to say - the color and draftsmanship put in with a seeming casualness immediately awakening the viewer to the freshness of the work. - Alan Barnes
