The History of Tango (Dallas)

Latino Cultural Center

Part musical journey, part academic lecture, this fascinating night of movement and sound will explore the birth of tango during the 19th century, as it developed in the brothels and cafes of Buenos Aires.

Ethnomusicology PhD student José R. Torres-Ramos of the University of North Texas will delve into the history and the evolution of tango, exploring its origin as a dance between two men, into an elegant, international expression of love, lust, and desire.

The History of Tango will also feature dazzling performances by George and Jairelbhi Furlong, acclaimed dance partners and tango instructors at Studio 22 Dallas.
