Contemporary Texas II: Selections from the Permanent Collection, the next major exhibition at the Tyler Museum of Art, highlights close to 25 of the more notable works by prominent Texas artists the Museum has collected since the mid-1980s, including several recent acquisitions that will be shown to the public for the first time, plus numerous others that have not been on display at the TMA in more than a decade. Acclaimed artists represented in “Contemporary Texas II” include Vernon Fisher, Randy Twaddle, and Sydney Philen Yeager, working across a broad range of media encompassing oil and acrylic painting, serigraphs, charcoal drawing and mixed-media.
Contemporary Texas II runs Sunday, Dec. 10 through Feb. 25 at the TMA, 1300 S. Mahon Ave. on the Tyler Junior College main campus. Regular hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday (closed Mondays and major holidays). Admission is free.
