Art Con 13 will feature more than 150 local artists who have been challenged to stretch their talents to create a piece of collectible art within 24 hours on a signature Art Con 18 x 18 board. A 24-hour artist call to fill out our lineup occurred on October 3. The event will also present live musical performances featuring local bands Medicine Man Revival and Acid Carousel, and DJ duo The Good Taste Collective.
Seek the Peace is a grass-roots, peace-building organization working to foster a just and stable environment among war-torn and refugee communities. With the funds raised by Art Con (with your help), SEEK plans to implement art programming specifically designed for trauma-healing in the population they serve.
Art Con is Art Conspiracy’s signature event that began in 2005. Combining the forces of creativity and philanthropy, we set out to create public awareness for the arts and to bring artists and musicians together – to “conspire” for the benefit of the local arts scene. Since Art Conspiracy began operation, it has raised close to $300,000 for small programs that provide arts and music programming in North Texas, including Music Is Our Weapon, Make Art with Peace, La Reunion, Girls Rock Dallas, My Possibilities and Preservation Link, among other worthy causes.
Completed works will be presented for live auction with bids starting at $20, raising money for this year’s beneficiary, SEEK the Peacehttp://seekingpeace.org/.
