'fluid dialog' Featuring the Art of Liz Trosper and Thomas Motley

Texas Wesleyan University - Bernice Coulter Templeton Art Studio

The exhibition, fluid dialog, presents a unique conversation between two friends – Liz Trosper and Thomas Motley. It is a conversation that has taken place over a couple of years and reflects the non-verbal creative cues one artist can give to another. The viewer is given the challenging and fun experience of finding connections and starting their own conversation with the artists as they view these energizing works.

  • "My work casts a critical eye toward the legacy of modern and contemporary painting. Using wordplay and feminist critique, I mine formalism for its discriminatory attitudes toward women. I also hope to honor the rich tradition of experimentation, technological exploration and media integration within the discourse of painting." Liz Trosper
  • "Shortly after seeking me out for some 'traditional' painting instruction, Liz Trosper dragged me kicking and screaming into a digital art discussion. For a couple of years, we have critiqued each others' work, and collaborated in a visual exchange, a reflective dialog about mutual interests in drawing, printmaking, and painting." Thomas Motley
