Phantom
Book by Arthur Kopit
Music and Lyrics by Maury Yeston
Based on Gaston Leroux's novel, The Phantom of the Opera
Those people who can bring forth beautiful music from the very depths of their souls compel us, astound and sometimes frighten us. In this musical we go on a journey where music can fill our lives – transporting us from the world of the ordinary to the extraordinary. When Erik closes his eyes to his gloomy world of ugliness, music brings to his imagination beauty, poetry, and ecstasy. Based upon what he believed to be a true story passed down through the years, Leroux penned the story of an ‘Opera Ghost’ who wreaked chaos and destruction in late 19th century Paris at the Opera Garnier. “Rhapsodic music that entrances, moves and haunts – a welcome link to musical theatre’s golden past.”
