The Richardson Symphony Orchestra will continue its 56th season with an “An Evening of Gershwin” on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 8:00 pm at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts, located at 2351 Performance Drive in Richardson, Texas.
The program will include some of Gershwin's most iconic works: the Cuban Overture; Rhapsody in Blue with guest artist Gustavo Romero, piano; and selections for the orchestra from Porgy and Bess and An American in Paris. Concert pianist Gustavo Romero is internationally renowned for his exceptional technical brilliance and interpretive depth and has gained an acclaimed reputation for his commitment to in-depth exploration of a wide variety of composers. Mr. Romero has won many prizes including first prize in the prestigious Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland, The Avery Fisher Career Grant and The Musical America Young Artist Award. He is a Professor of Piano at the University of North Texas.
This concert is the fifth in the RSO’s 56th season under the baton of Conductor Clay Couturiaux. Maestro Couturiaux brings energy, precision, and creativity to every RSO performance. He also serves as Assistant Director of Orchestras at the University of North Texas where he teaches fundamentals of conducting technique and orchestral conducting, administrates the orchestral studies area, and is conductor of the UNT Concert Orchestra.
