Lecture: History of the North Texas Fair and Rodeo


Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum

Join us from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on August 2 at the Courthouse-on-the-Square for the next installment of our lecture series! Nanci Monroe Kimmey, Gerogia Kemp Caraway, and Mickey McNary will be discussing the history of the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo.

Nanci Monroe Kimmey has served as the North Texas State Fair Association's executive assistant for over 10 years. Between the work of Kimmey and executive director, Glenn Carlton, the fair has won the prestegious Texas Association of Fairs and Events Award of Excellence five times from 2009 - 2014.

Local historian, Georgia Kemp Caraway, served as the executive director of Denton County Museums for 14 years. She has also co-authored and published five books on the topic of Denton history, including "Images of America: North Texas State Fair and Rodeo" (co-authored by Kimmey).

Join us in learning of the 125-year history of our local State Fair and Rodeo! The lecture will be held in the Commissioner's Courtroom. Entry is free and open to the public.
