Join us for the opening reception of Jessie Budd's MFA show at CentralTrak.
Budd, a UT Dallas MFA candidate, explores concepts of identity through experimental arts. Combining photographs, video and soft sculpture she creates alien life forms and scenes. Budd uses a combination of self-portraiture, illustration and physical materials to create alien characters and scenes. Bodies are deconstructed, and then rebuilt with flat shapes devoid of human emotion. These bright and playful shapes are built upon with soft fabric textures, adding a third dimension to the otherwise uniform images. Each work is nostalgic to the artist, relating to personal digital experiences in what she considers the age of entertainment escapism.
