We are starting The Silent Reading Society because reading with friends is awesome. We love hearing about what people are reading and we think it’s important to put down our phones and be social. What makes The Silent Reading Society unique is there’s no assigned reading or pressure to have something smart to say. We’ll just enjoy each other’s company as we read our books while sipping a drink of our choice.
The Silent Reading Society is about community. Everyone is welcome, and anyone can do it. Bring a book, bring a friend. Then read, wine, repeat. The Silent Reading Society is about taking time out of your busy schedule to simply relax and read. You’ve earned it.
Schedule:
6:30 -7 p.m. – People arrive, order drinks/food, share what they’re reading if they feel like
7 – 7:45 p.m. – Quiet reading
7:45 – 8:15 p.m. – Optional socializing, or keep reading!
The Silent Reading Society is the Dallas chapter of the national Silent Book Club.
