Existing Within

TCU BFA Senior Exhibition 2017

Opening Reception, Monday April 24, 5-7 p.m.,  Exhibition on display through April 28, 2017

Join graduating BFA candidates Michelle Bonilla, Casey Leone, Sam Granado, Joelle Nagy and Olivia Nucci for their capstone exhibition. This exhibition demonstrates how each artist looks inward, whether literally, subconsciously or politically. Through photographs, prints, paintings and sculptures, each artist produces work that physically manifests what exists within.

Michelle Bonilla is a painter with an interest in interdisciplinary art practices. Her work deals with ideas about human biology and gender equality. Her most recent work depicts repetitive organic shapes which represent her own female figure and explore questions of identity, self-discovery and the importance of female solidarity.

Sam Granado is a photographer who focuses on window reflections that convey the juxtaposition of events simultaneously occurring on the inside and the outside of the glass presented through natural color and abstract form. She is interested in seeking out new areas of Dallas-Fort Worth while also re-exploring familiar ones that allow for discovery through reflection.

Casey Leone is a printmaker who explores themes of isolation, identity, and tension using elusive imagery. She uses appropriated sources, including films, well-known artworks, and text and obscures these images to draw attention to certain aspects of the original source material.

Joelle Nagy is a painter who fuses imagery of recipes, memories, Hungarian motifs, and old photographs in an effort to describe and keep her traditions and cultural beliefs as a legacy to pass on to the next generation, as well as a personal journey to recover her identity.

Olivia Nucci is a painter who explores personal and collective history through the rendering of quilts. She aims to honor and elevate the past through the preservation of memories displayed in a common object.
