Will Heron | Entendre

Eastfield College Arts Collective

Artist and muralist Will Heron transforms the H Gallery at Eastfield College for his solo exhibition Entendre opening Saturday, April 1. Heron’s exhibit will also feature a Wheron pop up with art, prints, t-shirts, and pins for sale. Entendre is in conjunction with Eastfield College’s Arts in Action, a free outdoor festival featuring Heron’s art exhibition, a collaborative community mural, jazz and guitar performances, an outdoor ballet barre, and more.

Will Heron dives into a world of visual-word play and layered meanings through a variety of media that includes installation works, paintings and illustrations. While referencing his deep-rooted Where on aesthetic of hybrid cacti and prickly light bulbs, Entendre addresses a new range of topics, from the mainstream political climate to underground drag culture… all while not taking itself too seriously.

Will Heron was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, which explains his fascination with prickly plants and Southern urban symbols. Since receiving his BA from Austin College (Sherman, TX) in 2011, he has been teaching high school visual arts at a West Dallas charter school while furthering his art practices. Heron founded the Wheron crew in 2012, creating large-scale public murals and exhibiting in galleries across DFW under the alias Wheron. His West Dallas studio-house, The Platform, serves as a collaborative creative space for making and exhibiting new works for him and his Dallas contemporaries.
