Marius Silaghi's premier solo exhibition of black and white photographs, titled Simplicity, will open with a reception for the artist on Saturday, May 7, 5-8 pm. Silaghi is an artist living and working in Dallas, Texas. He emigrated from Romania and some of the images are from his time in Eastern Europe. However, place is not an important feature of these photographs. They are strong universal images of simple objects from the natural and industrial worlds. His focus is to capture a moment of time in which the simplest detail of texture, light, contrast, and atmosphere is captured as a photograph. It is through an experience of the photograph that Silaghi invites viewers to create their own art experience, a portal to a moment of simplicity.
This is the first exhibition of Marius Silaghi's photographs. His interest in photography as art began when his wife gave him a camera for Christmas. He still uses the same camera. His vision for future works concern the application of technology with art.
