8th Annual Dallas Arts Celebration Day

Latino Cultural Center

Arts Celebration Day is an opportunity for everyone interested in the arts to learn more about current arts issues and new initiatives and concepts. Registration for the Day begins at 11:00 a.m. The luncheon begins at 12:00 p.m. and is highlighted by keynote speaker Anne Gadwa Nicodemus, principal of Metris Arts Consulting. Ms. Nicodemus is a nationally-recognized consultant and expert on creative placemaking as cultural policy and its ethics and practical challenges. She co-authored Creative Placemaking, a report for the Mayors' Institute of City Design that defined the field's role in anchoring arts districts, expanding arts access, and boosting safety, livability, tax rolls and property values.

The luncheon, which includes an artist's statement by Kimi Nikaidoh of the Bruce Wood Dance Project, is followed by two seminars, Branding on a Budget and Dallas Faces Race: Celebrating Diversity in the Arts. The Day ends with a happy hour gathering in Deep Ellum. Event tickets include lunch and all seminar materials. Parking at the Latino Cultural Center is free.
