For Jill Nonnemacher's solo exhibition, Haley-Henman curated five works from her existing portfolio as well as six new works created for this exhibition. She invites viewers to touch and feel her sculptures. In addition, Jill Nonnemacher created an interactional (performance) work, "Experience the Transcendent" for the exhibition that will occur during the four-week period of the exhibition, as well as during the opening reception. The artist focuses on the human figure. She sculpts abstractly in clay, adding and taking away in the modeling process. Bits of clay added on and taken away is also part of the psychological experience of encountering the form itself. Memories and emotions become part of adding to and taking away subconscious dimensions. The finished clay sculpture is then molded and cast in plaster with hand applied colored oxides.
The opening reception is February 6, 2016 from 5-8 pm. Exhibition on display through February 27, 2016.
Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 5 pm, and by appointment by calling 214-532-3225 or 214-946-2255.
