Light & Shadow: Inspirata Concert at Zion Lutheran Church

Zion Lutheran Church

We traditionally begin Lent with this maxim: “From dust you have come, and to dust you shall return.” But what is to come from the dust? What do we wish would rise up from the ashes?

In this program, we will explore the “shadow” of the season, marked by the absence of the sun / Son, recognizing the guilt we hold on to and the demons that haunt us. We will remember Christ’s walk to the cross, willingly giving himself up to be crucified, and we will ask God to protect us and guide our steps in the darkness of the “three days.”
Ultimately, we take joy in the brilliance of the “radiant dawn” of the Risen Christ and the blessed comfort we feel within His shadow. As we reside in the grace and protection of Christ’s sacrifice, we are compelled to examine the walls and structures of our life. Upon what principles are we founded? Who is guiding our actions? How can we rebuild the foundation of our own lives in order for us to then shape a world which is in the image of Christ?

In “Light & Shadow” we journey from dust and ashes to a bright new dawn; from guilt and resignation to an opportunity for change through action. With Christ as our cornerstone, we are empowered to shine His light into our communities through grace in this new creation.
