Bruce Wood Dance 13th Anniversary Performance & Gala

Moody Performance Hall

Our 13th Anniversary Performance & Gala features acclaimed dances by legendary American choreographer Lar Lubovitch. Proceeds from this celebration support our programs and services for the community.

"The evening performance pays tribute to the genius of Lar Lubovitch and Bruce Wood's legacy. Lubovitch had a profound influence on Wood's creative style," says Artistic Director Joy Bollinger.

Named "a national treasure" by Variety, Lar Lubovitch is one of America’s most distinguished, versatile, and widely seen choreographers. Our once-in-a-lifetime performance spotlights his radiant choreography:
Conversing with Brahms (World premiere). Inspired by the musical mysteries of Johannes Brahms’ poignant Piano Pieces, Opus 76, which will be performed by guest pianist José Antonio Cubela; • Concerto Six Twenty–Two (Dallas premiere). Created in 1986 at the height of the AIDS epidemic, this masterpiece holds at its heart the universally acclaimed and enchanting adagio for two men; and • Elemental Brubeck. Set to the quintessential jazz of Dave Brubeck, this irrepressible, exhilarating tribute to 1950s Hollywood musicals will energize and delight!
