Local artist Courtney Nicole Googe is exhibiting her figurative work at Skypole Fitness for a special one-day only pop-up event! Frp, 12-3 pm.
Many are familiar with her prints, drawings, and other art studio experimentation, but now she’s inviting you to her other studio- where she explores pole dance.
Artist/Dancer is an exhibition where the two passions of Courtney’s practice come together in the same space. This is the opportunity to view (and collect!) a compilation of original prints in the pole dance studio where Courtney finds inspiration.
Courtney Nicole Googe is a local artist and teacher. Printmaking is her primary media, but she also enjoys integrating photography, drawing, collage, textiles, and sculptural elements into her studio practice. Much of her work is figurative, in combination with pattern and other imagery.
Since 2018, she has spent her summers at Mudhouse Residency in Crete, Greece, teaching printmaking workshops. The rest of the year she usually teaches Art Appreciation, Digital Media, Printmaking, and/or Contemporary Art History.
She had organized additional printmaking or drawing workshops for the community around the DFW area, including a printmaking summer camp through Artroom in Fort Worth before the pandemic. Currently, her Three-Headed-Sugar-Monster project is on view at Dough Boy Donuts in Burleson. Last year she was the Artist-in-Residence at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth.
In addition to visual work, she is also a movement artist. Initially, she began incorporating movement into her practice as a way to present and document wearable art. However, for the past 5 years she has been training as a pole dancer. Now, much of the figure references for her visual art is directly influenced by the shapes she creates with her body in the pole studio. She has performed locally and in Manhattan. Courtney goes by the pseudonym Spice at Skypole Fitness, where she is an instructor.
She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wyoming and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Dallas. Courtney’s work has been exhibited throughout DFW at Ro2 Art, the MAC, Plush Gallery, Umbrella Gallery, MFA Gallery, Haggerty Gallery, Fort Worth Community Arts Center, and Carillon Gallery. Nationally, she has shown in Wyoming, Mississippi, Montana, Alaska, Oregon, Missouri, Louisiana, and New York. Finally, she is included in international collections in Greece, Australia, Bangladesh, and Egypt.
