Join the Textile Arts Forum at Oil and Cotton! Sign up for one, a few, or all the lessons. Let’s work our way through the World History of Textile Arts, with a focus on Spinning and Weaving! There is a world of work in the textile arts and so many ways to transform fibers into fabric. We will examine archaeological evidence as we sample a wide variety of materials throughout the year. These workshops are for beginners as well as experienced Fiber Artists.

BRONZE AGE Explore Spinning with Nettle and Other Plant Fibers
We will use Late Neolithic style Spindles with hand made clay whorls (and pinch-pots as support bowls) while we learn to spin nettle-roving into thread. Students will take home a sample of fibers for further exploration.
