Unconventional Chromatics: Photography by John Magnuson

The mARTin Place

Join us for the artist reception on August 6th from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

John Magnuson began his photography endeavors at the age of five when he went on his first photo outing with his dad, sister, and friend, Don Simmons. At that time, John captured his first award-winning photograph and has continued to win awards including two Silver Keys for Scholastic Art and Writing Contest in the South Region, numerous ribbons and prize money for 12 years in the Heard Nature Photography Show, and awards at the State Fair of Texas.

Most recently, John received Advanced Placement credit for his photography portfolio. John often captures details that engage the viewer to meditate on the images presented including buildings, nature, and people. In addition to photography, John enjoys creating art, playing the piano, and listening to music. Furthermore, John participated in Trail Life USA with Troop 226 for nine years and achieved his Freedom Award, which is the highest rank. Trail Life is a Christian, character-building, outdoor, adventure organization that is badge driven and focuses on Servant Leadership.

A portion of the sales from this exhibition will be donated to Trail Life Troop 226. In the fall,

John will begin an online degree in Digital Media and Design with Southwestern University (SEU). The exhibition is on display from August 3rd until August 30th during business hours, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
