Interabang Books Celebrates Five Years with a Birthday Party, Saturday, July 16, 10 AM to 7 PM

July is a month of celebration for Interabang Books. This month marks five years of being the go-to destination for North Texas’ literary community. Since opening in 2017, the local indie bookstore has become known for its expertly curated assortment of titles, commitment to service, and experienced staff of fellow book lovers. On  Saturday, July 16th, Interabang will host an all-day, in-store party from 10 to 7.

"We invite the community to come out for this year’s birthday celebration of bookselling, an event that is an especially happy day at Interabang every summer,” says owner Nancy Perot. “These five years have been a wonderful journey, and our entire family of booksellers is looking forward to celebrating the anniversary with our friends.”

Synonymous with Interabang’s signature punctuation—the combination of a question mark and exclamation point—team members will be on hand to help any client find their next favorite book.  According to partner Lori Feathers, "Our knowledgeable booksellers will be on-hand to tell customers about some of our favorite books and to make curated recommendations to satisfy any reader's interests and tastes."

Among the highlights:

  • At 10:30 AM, Interabang will hold its beloved Saturday Story Time—a popular weekly event for young readers and readers-to-be.
  • At 4:00 p.m. Michael Reynolds, Editor in Chief of Europa Editions, will join us to talk about publishing Elena Ferrante and other wonderful books from Europa’s authors, including fall’s most anticipated new titles.

  • At 5:00, classical guitarist James Gabriano will perform as Interabang serves wine and beer as guests browse the shop’s selection of books and gifts.

There will also be special offers including complimentary boxes of Animal Crackers and helium balloons for the kids during Story Time, while the supply lasts; custom Interabang Books pencils, free to each customer; and Interabang’s birthday bookmark with every book purchase – the latest in the bookshop’s series of illustrated bookmarks by Dallas artist Barbara Glazer Rosenblatt. To top it all off there will be special displays specifically designed for our birthday. Carlos Guajardo, Interabang’s inventory manager, says, “One of the great pleasures of merchandising a book store is creating interesting displays revolving around a theme we feel will spark readers’ curiosity. Each month, on our end caps, we feature titles based on themes ranging from a specific author’s works, hot titles for the summer, or topical books that help us understand current events. For our five-year anniversary, we have prepared a special selection that recalls some of our most meaningful and impactful titles of the last five years that we feel best represent the spirit of what Interabang's uniquely curated selection is all about.”

Throughout the day, enjoy sips and snacks from neighboring businesses—J. Rae’s bakery, La La Land coffee, and Pogo’s Wine and Spirits (after 5:00).
