Beethoven’s “Pastoral”

Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center

EDO DE WAART conducts
INGRID FLITER piano

CHOPIN Concerto No. 2 in F minor for Piano and Orchestra
BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 6 in F major, “Pastoral”

Having just celebrated his 80th birthday, Maestro Edo de Waart brings gravitas and expertise to the podium at the DSO. The concert features Argentenian pianist, Ingrid Fliter, known for her interpretations of Chopin, in Chopin’s virtuosic and colorful second concerto.

Followed by the ever-popular Pastoral Symphony, which Beethoven said “is more expression than painting of feeling” – an expansive and expanding walk through the countryside abounding with sounds of nature, using the many colors of the orchestra to tell a pastoral story, complete with babbling brooks, bird calls, a turbulent storm and a merry gathering.

Prepare to experience nature and love through music during this concert.
