Gallery Talk with Harlan Butt

Join Materials Hard + Soft Metals Artist and University of North Texas Emeritus Professor Harlan Butt for a gallery talk on his piece, Environment Vessel #2: Fading Beauty featured in our Materials Hard + Soft Exhibition. 

Butt's biography: "Harlan W. Butt is a Professor Emeritus at the University of North Texas College of Visual Arts + Design, where he taught from 1976 to 2017. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally for over forty years and spent a year studying enameling and metalsmithing in Kyoto, Japan. Harlan is past President of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG), is past president of the Enamelist Society, a Fellow of the American Crafts Council and a member of the Society of American Silversmiths. He has his work in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London; the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, the Shippo Art Museum in Ama-City, Japan; the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC; the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; the Mint Museum of Art & Craft in Charlotte, NC; the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, TN, the Enamel Arts Foundation in Los Angeles, CA, the Houston Fine Arts Museum, among others. Harlan lives with his wife Robin in Denton, Texas.
