NEW CONCERT SERIES GIRLS OF DFW TO SHOWCASE LOCAL FEMALE SINGER-SONGWRITERS & ENTREPRENEURS

On March 3, Girls of DFW series debuts with intimate showcase at Poor David’s Pub aimed at supporting local women

(DALLAS, Feb. 2021; source: Girls of DFW) -- Girls of DFW is launching a new concert series aimed at showcasing female singer-songwriters and entrepreneurs across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex this Spring. The first concert in the ongoing series will be held on Wednesday, March 3 at 8 p.m. at Poor David’s Pub in West Dallas, located at 1313 Botham Jean Blvd, Dallas, TX 75215.

“Girls of DFW seeks to celebrate the incredible creative talent of female artists and businesswomen of Dallas-Fort Worth. We also want to foster a sense of collaboration and teamwork amongst participants,” says founder Sarah Johnson, a local singer-songwriter and painter. “Everyone is welcome! This will be an unforgettable night to enjoy quality music and discover women entrepreneurs making a difference in our city.”

The launch includes local and well-loved singer-songwriters Corina Grove, Elaina Kay, Frankie Leonie, and Johnson herself. The artists have become good friends as they’ve navigated the music scene in Dallas and beyond together over the last several years, prompting Girls of DFW to come to life. “We want others to see how collaborative and welcoming the Dallas music scene is. There is no sense of competition. We all want each other to succeed and help each other have opportunities to grow as musicians,” says Johnson.

Girls of DFW also aims to support female entrepreneurs across Dallas-Fort Worth. The first concert is sponsored by local female-owned businesses and entrepreneurs such as Kelli Macatee of Macatee and Wells Compass Real Estate, Katie Scott of Red Zeppelin Records, and Amber LaFrance of CultureHype and host of Deep Ellum Radio’s “Women Crush Wednesday” show. Concert goers can shop apparel from local shop Honky Tonky T and art from Johnson’s collection. Jessica Waffles of WafflesWeekly will be providing photography. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available. Please contact [email protected] if interested.

“We’ve had overwhelming support for Girls of DFW. People are excited to highlight female talent as well as work together. Teamwork and collaboration are so important in any industry - but especially for creative entrepreneurs” says Johnson, “This is an opportunity to help eachother grow––and provide an unforgettable experience for DFW.”

Johnson hopes for Girls of DFW to be an ongoing series to showcase artists and entrepreneurs. Additional Girls of DFW showcases to be announced soon.
