Author Jessica Chiccehitto Hindman will guide attendees to distance from their past-selves in order to write about their lives with insight and wisdom.
During the free course, participants will discuss the difference between their past-self and present-writer-self. They will then review excerpts written by writers who successfully separated the two selves and complete a writing exercise designed to show writers how to do this for themselves.
Participants will have the opportunity to share their writing with the group (optional). They will leave with a better understanding of the memoir genre, tips on how to view yourself as a character in your writing and a guided prompt to help you generate memoir writing.
Participants may attend in-person at the Southwest Regional Library or virtually via Zoom.
