LowDown Brass Band featuring The Mississippi Bastard Project

Tulips FTW

The LowDown Brass Band is a uniquely strong representation of Chicago Music culture. This talented all horn band leans heavily on dancehall and street beat rhythm, with the energy of conscious hip hop, jazz, reggae, and soul. LowDown is touring to support their most recent release LowDown Reels.

When we first came up with the idea for the “Mini Reels” we thought it was just a good way for the band to stay active and create content consistently through the  pandemic. We also saw the “Mini Reels” as a way to express our ideas and opinions on the times we live in.  Looking back at the experience  I realize all these things happened but in actuality the most important thing that occurred was growth. The growth of us as individual artists and human beings but also our growth collectively. We become stronger and more focused through the journey of creating and releasing 1 New Song and a Music video for that song every two weeks, it’s no easy task. It pushed us to the limits creatively and personally when deadlines and fast turnarounds were staring us square in the eye, we had no choice but to deliver or go back on our word. The “Mini Reels” are a testament to the transformative power of art and how important it is to our development as human beings, individually and collectively.
