Mural unveiling

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 3204 Skillman St, Dallas, TX. 75206 will hold the unveiling of its new mural on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021 at 1 p.m. Festivities and food will begin at noon, with the unveiling and artist presentation scheduled for 1 p.m.

The mural is funded by an anti-racism grant awarded to St. Andrew's by Whitworth University.

St. Andrew's will also present a Speakers Series on anti-racism, diversity and inclusion in Jan-Feb. 2022. The "Love One Another" mural is being spray painted by Dallas artist Nick Anderson, who has painted several commissioned murals in the area, including in Deep Ellum. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and Richardson High School Visual Arts magnet. The Speaker Series will highlight local community members working to promote anti-racism, diversity and inclusion. Speakers expected include leaders of the Lake Highlands Area Mothers Against Racism and Lincoln HS dance instructor Iris Wyatt whose students created a video to the anthem: Lift Every Voice and Sing. Dallas Artist Daniel Gunn is also expected to speak about his art and the mural he created on the steps of the Perot museum in downtown Dallas. The unveiling and speaker series are free, and open to the public. If the weather is rainy, most of the event will be held in the Nance fellowship hall.
