First Impressions is a group exhibition showcasing work from thirteen MFA students from the University of North Texas. Having experienced one or more semesters affected by a global pandemic, First Impressions serves as an opportunity to build community among this group of artists, most likely for the first time. This particular presentation places emphasis on sculpture, or works that explore objecthood. Viewers are asked to navigate a multitude of research practices, and how each individual practice challenges their navigation of space. These works demonstrate a wide range of bodily experiences including tension, function, labor, and celebration.
