This is a virtual event

GENEALOGY is the journey of fashion illustrator and designer Kris Keys tracing her family’s lineage and ancestry. Kris, a carrier of the genetic blood disorder Hereditary Elliptocytosis, embarked upon a project to find the origins of this illness. Her family discovered this disorder in the 1980s during Kris’ treatments at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her hometown Memphis, Tennessee. Kris’ first collection HEMATOLOGY captured the essence of her irregular blood smears through illustrations and beautiful womenswear garments.

Unpacking her family’s health history has led her to travel through Mississippi’s rural towns, uncovering stories from her family’s rich heritage one flower petal at a time. It's a journey that will make you ponder, reflect, laugh, cry, but most of all inspire you to take an inward exploration into your own identity.

September 7, 2021 at 11:22 a.m, Kris will unveil GENEALOGY, a virtual exhibition of watercolor paintings and films inspired by the patterns of blood, memory, and history.
