Wanda King Blues Band

Allen Public Library

Wanda King’s voice resonates with a ferocity that matches her stage presence.  The daughter of the late Freddie King, also known as the Texas Cannonball, Wanda King began singing at an early age.  The King family home was filled with music and musicians of the era—Howlin’ Wolf, Albert King, B.B. King, Magic Sam, Tyrone Davis, Johnnie Taylor, just to name a few.

The Wanda King Blues Band takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 24, at the Allen Public Library at a live event and also virtually at allentx.swagit.com

Wanda’s dreams of a music career came to a grinding halt when her father died suddenly on Dec 28, 1976. Wanda entered the workforce, but writing poetry and lyrics remained her passion.  After gradually re-entering the entertainment business, her band soon jammed with the best.  Wanda has opened for Etta James, The Blues Brothers (Dan Ackroyd and Jim Belushi), David Sanborn, Johnny Winter and many more.

Wanda has produced three CDs: From A Blues Point Of View, Songs In The Key Of Blues and Bridges.

Sponsored by the Allen Public Library, this concert is free.

The library is located at 300 N. Allen Dr. Call 214-509-4911 for additional information.
