Whether Idania is singing her favorite songs from Celia Cruz, Nina Simone, or Barbara Streisand, composing music, jumping on the drums, timbales, congas, she brings Cuban Soul to everything she plays. We welcome her to the Bath House for the first time, performing Cuban Jazz and popular songs from around the world.
Growing up in Cienfuegos, Cuba, Idania studied at the Universidad de Cienfuegos with her degree and specialization in piano, singing, flute and percussion. Before her move to Dallas in 2016, Idania won several awards in Cuba, including the Gran Prix Voice at the Institute of Music in 2008, the Best Female Award from the music of Cubadisco Recording label in 2005, and in 2015 Idania won a national award for a percussion competition “Guillermo Barreto in Memoriam” in Havana, Cuba, Centro Nacional de Música Popular.
