Beethoven, Mozart & Sibelius -CANCELLED

Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center

CONCERT CANCELLATION
Due to travel restrictions in effect to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Mozart & Sibelius, initially scheduled for Friday, May 14th at 7:30 PM has been canceled.

This is an in-person event

JOHN STORGÅRDS conducts & violin
ERIN HANNIGAN oboe

BEETHOVEN Romance in F major, Op. 50, for Violin & Orchestra
MOZART Oboe Concerto in C major
SIBELIUS Symphony No. 1 in E minor

Principal Oboe Erin Hannigan will showcase her “l-o-n-g and elegantly tapered lines with apparently limitless breath” (Dallas Morning News) in Mozart’s Oboe Concerto, at once delightfully breezy and, in the finale, downright ebullient.

Guest conductor John Storgårds wields not only his baton, but also his violin bow to play Beethoven’s soaring Romance. Painting with a darker musical palette, Sibelius created his First Symphony, evoking the atmosphere of his beloved Finland.
