Nasher Prize Dialogues: Laureate Lecture (Virtual Event with Michael Rakowitz)

Nasher Sculpture Center

This is a virtual event

Join Nasher Prize Laureate Michael Rakowitz as he delivers a dynamic, virtual lecture in which he will consider the meanings of places and objects in and around his home in Chicago as well as those further afield as part of his cultural heritage, and their impact on his work as an artist.

During this time of social separation, Rakowitz explores the question: “If I can’t be there with you, how can I show you where I am?”

About Michael Rakowitz

Through his work, Rakowitz offers a deeply considered vision of sculpture’s possibilities in the face of political and humanitarian crises. Drawing upon his heritage as an American artist of Iraqi Jewish descent, he has confronted the complex legacies of centuries of conflict in the Middle East, most recently in the Iraq War and its aftermath.
