The work was originally done in 1986, for an informal studio, and has not been done since.
We asked our Artistic Director: Loris Anthony Beckles, what brought this dance back to his heart and mind: "I saw a photo is Abbey Lincoln in an exhibit of Sepia Covers at SDCC. Got me to thinking about a duet I had made long ago. Maybe the two dancers in the film could do it. We planned it for BDC 25th Anniversary concert last April 2020 then Covid-19 hit. Many theaters were/are shuttered. Dancers were robbed of interacting with audiences. It was a way of showing the dance and dancers without a large gathering in a closed space."
